VP30 Revelation
I would never have thought that a DVD contains such excellent imagery. After I connected the
Snazio Net Cinema HD DVD player to the
DVDO iScan VP30 which then feeds my LCD panel via DVI the image quality has been dramatically improved. Still it depends on the quality of the original encoding. However, the remastered version of the original Star Wars trilogy almost looks like HD content. Another movie DVD,
Pride and Prejudice similarly appears with a sharp and very detailed picture.
What impressed me most, though, was the quality of my cable tv. After installing a
dbox 2 the picture looked much better as one can expect from a digital source. However, together with the VP30, again, last nights presentation of
X-Men 2 looked almost too detailed for simple Standard Definition TV.
Apart from that the auto-switching of input signals makes handling the sources very easy as I don't have to worry about the slow LG LCD TV to switch to the right input. It now all comes in through DVI which in turn even has a nice display protection (as one knows from computer monitors) feature.
