Location Based Gaming

Gamers of the world: prepare to move.

Imagine, you play one of your favourite action role playing games but you have to move, really move, to real world places to unlock certain areas or special items. Or you get additional levels for your shooter game. Parents beware, your children will drag you in front of the soft drink shelfes to be able to get special items. Your local coffee dealer is going to offer you not only a unique coffee experience, but a special track of a best selling racing game. Hordes of players may be moving from one site to another just to advance their characters level.

Its now possible with your average handheld console. Both, Nintendo DS and SONY's PSP have builtin support for wireless connectivity. Bundling special game events to certain locations makes much more sense than just meeting someone on the train to play together. We already have crowds of tourists at the SONY Center Berlin. In near future youngsters may be lingering in front of the SONY Style Store to finish the final boss.
